vintage-leather-martingale
Vintage Leather Martingale

A characterful vintage leather martingale hung with three cast brass horse brasses, each showing a horse's head framed within a lucky horseshoe. The top brass shows a front-facing horse in its bridle, the middle a spirited horse with a flowing mane in a nailed horseshoe, and the bottom a horse's head in profile. Martingales like this once decorated the harness of working heavy horses. Today they make a wonderful display piece hung beside a fireplace or log burner, in a country pub or home bar, a farmhouse kitchen, hallway or tack room. It makes a lovely gift for horse lovers and anyone who enjoys traditional English country style.

DETAILS

Item: Leather martingale with horse brasses
Material: Brass and leather
Number of brasses: 3
Designs: Horse heads within horseshoe frames
Length: Approx. 35 cm / 13.8" (including top strap and buckle)
Period: Vintage, mid-20th century

CONDITION

Good vintage condition with honest signs of age.
