Vintage EPNS Silver Plated Sauce Boat, Sheffield England, Panelled Cream Jug
A charming small vintage silver plated sauce boat / cream jug, stamped 'E.P.N.S A1 Made in Sheffield England' to the base.
It has an elegant panelled (faceted) body, a neat footed base, an open loop handle and a wide pouring spout. A classic piece of English tableware with a lovely understated shape.
Dimensions: approx. 10cm tall to the top of the handle and 15cm from spout to handle.
Marks: stamped 'E.P.N.S A1 Made in Sheffield England'. No maker's name beyond the stamp. EPNS means electroplated nickel silver; this is silver plated, not solid silver.
Condition: freshly polished and bright. There are minor light scratches and light wear to the plating, as you'd expect with age and use, and slight marks inside the base. Please look at the photos, as they're part of the description.
Perfect for cream, custard, gravy or sauces, or use it as a small vase, sugar or sweet holder, or as a display piece on a dresser or tea table. It also makes a nice gift for anyone who loves vintage tableware.
Era (estimate): likely mid-20th century, around the 1930s to 1960s.
Carefully packed for postage by The Vintage Trove UK.
